About the volunteering opportunity
The website of Junge Menschen für Afrika e.V. is the organization’s primary communication channel. Here, we provide information on the status of projects, news, and ways to donate. It was built many years ago with a structure that made sense at the time, using the WordPress CMS.
From today’s perspective, the structure is too complex and, in some parts, confusing. Furthermore, with all the necessary updates, the CMS system is too complex for day-to-day maintenance by JMFA volunteers, who have little experience managing websites.
We are seeking support for the migration to the Wix CMS system and for implementing a new website structure.

Your Tasks
- Migrating the current website to Wix
- Creating a new website structure that is more user-friendly and, for visitors, more organized, cleaner, more appealing in terms of text and imagery, and more consistent.
- The concept will be developed in collaboration with JMFA volunteers, and the website structure will be designed accordingly.
- The website should be easy for JMFA volunteers to update over the long term.

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
IT, website administration, back-end and front-end development, knowledge of Wix, SEO, communication

First, we’ll schedule an introductory call and a detailed discussion of the project’s scope.
Migrating the site to Wix will likely take several weeks to months, depending on the volunteer’s available resources. There is no specific deadline. However, we would be pleased if the project were completed by May 2027. The volunteer can therefore decide for themselves how much time they would like to dedicate each week.
The time commitment also depends largely on the volunteer’s experience.
