About the volunteering opportunity
At our facility in Treptow, we offer adults with cognitive impairments a place to live and feel at home. The facility is located in a quiet residential area in the Plänterwald neighborhood.
Our residents enjoy having visitors and being accompanied on walks or shopping trips.
Your Tasks
- Pickup at the residential facility in Treptow
- Walks in the garden or the surrounding area
- Having conversations with a resident
- Going shopping in the neighborhood with a resident
- Your role is to provide companionship and support
- Returning to the residential facility together
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- Empathy and Patience in Interacting with People with Disabilities
- Enjoyment of spending time with people
- Reliability and dependability to provide residents with continuity and security
- Extended criminal background check (we’ll apply for this, and it’s free)
Time required
Regularly
Approx. 1 hour per week.
On weekdays, on weekends, during the day
Regularly once a week for 1 hour; either on weekdays between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. or at flexible times on the weekend.
Important notice
Die Spaziergänge finden in der näheren Umgebung der Wohneinrichtung statt. Vor Ort gibt es eine feste Ansprechpartnerin. Außerdem sind wir vom Team "die freiwilligen" im Unionhilfswerk auch gerne bereit zu unterstützen. Das Unionhilfswerk bietet Freiwilligen zudem kostenlose Kurse und Fortbildungen an.
