About the volunteering opportunity
We are a nonprofit organization based in Munich, and together with village communities in Ghana, we support projects in the areas of education, water supply, and social infrastructure.
In Oparekrom, in Ghana’s Eastern Region, we would like to build a daycare center with an attached community center. Since there is currently no reliable childcare available in the village for children under four years of age, the project aims to provide early childhood care and relieve the burden on families—especially women—in their daily lives.
To this end, we are looking for someone to volunteer to help us with fundraising and grant applications.
Your Tasks
Your Role
You’ll help us
● research suitable foundations and grant programs,
● review funding requirements,
● draft a compelling proposal,
● outline the project’s goals, impact, and sustainability,
● prepare a cost and financing plan if needed,
● and to support the application process through to submission, if possible.
Your Experience
Ideally, you have experience in grant acquisition, fundraising, foundation proposals, development cooperation, project management, or nonprofit work.
We value structured writing, an understanding of project logic, and a willingness to work with us to familiarize yourself with suitable funding opportunities. Professional experience with grant applications that you’d now like to apply to volunteer work is also very welcome.
Time Commitment and Collaboration
This role can be performed largely or entirely remotely. The exact time commitment depends on your availability and the scope of the grant application. Initially, the focus will be on a specific project and one or more suitable grant applications—not on the organization’s entire fundraising efforts.
We’ll provide project information, photos, background texts, and cost estimates, and we’re available to coordinate with you. Our long-standing connections with the village community and our experience from several projects in Ghana provide a solid foundation.

The association "Aktiv für Afrika e.V." aims to promote development cooperation and public health care in Africa. The projects are designed to generate sustainable benefits through the exchange of knowledge with the local population. These benefits should be reflected in the improvement of social conditions, the protection of the environment and local economic development. The association is guided by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were adopted by the United Nations in 2015. For this reason, the association plans, supports and implements self-help projects that are suitable for improving the living conditions and work opportunities of people in Africa, so that disadvantaged people in rural regions also have the opportunity to earn their own living.
