About the volunteering opportunity

Our website is showing its age and no longer reflects what the Heilbronn Diakoniestation stands for today. We want to present ourselves in a more modern, digital, and contemporary way and show that even an outpatient nursing service—in operation since 1869—can be innovative.

To achieve this, we want to completely rethink our entire website: a modern and clear structure, understandable and engaging text, contemporary visual elements, and significantly improved online visibility.

We also plan to integrate digital capabilities more fully, such as online appointment scheduling and other solutions that simplify processes for clients, family members, applicants, and our employees.

We’re also open to using AI to create new images. Our goal is explicitly not just a new design, but a website that conveys the message: care can be modern, professional, digital, and human all at once.

Your Tasks

We are looking for dedicated individuals who can use their knowledge and fresh perspective to help us fundamentally revamp our website.

Possible tasks include:

  • analyzing the existing website and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Developing a new, user-friendly site structure
  • Revising texts and updating them to reflect current trends
  • Developing a modern visual style and selecting or creating appropriate images, videos, and avatars using AI
  • Contributing ideas for a modern and appealing web design
  • Identify opportunities to improve search engine visibility (SEO, GEO)
  • Effectively integrate digital tools, such as online appointment booking
  • Improve the user experience, particularly for older adults, family members, and applicants
  • Work with us to explore how we can position ourselves digitally as a modern care service in Heilbronn
The goal: A website that no longer conveys an image of “old-fashioned care,” but instead shows at first glance how we work today: modern, professional, digital, and people-centered.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
Prior knowledge in one or more of the following areas is helpful:

  • Web design and the design of modern websites
  • UX/UI and user-friendly page structure
  • Copywriting, communication, and content creation
  • SEO/GEO and improved search engine visibility
  • Digital tools and their effective integration into websites
  • Image design, photography, or AI-generated images
  • Experience with AI tools and modern digital applications
  • Technical understanding of websites and content management systems
However, it’s not essential for a person to be skilled in all of these areas. We also welcome dedicated individuals who can contribute their expertise in a single area and work with us to develop new ideas.

What matters most is creativity, an outside perspective, and a desire to provide practical support to a social organization as it undergoes digital modernization.

Time required

Project-based
The timeframe will be determined in collaboration with management. But the rule of thumb is: managing your time is up to you.

Important notice

No specific knowledge of the care sector is required. What matters to us is openness, creativity, and a willingness to consistently view our website from the users’ perspective. We expressly welcome new ideas and a critical outside perspective.

Since the project involves working with sensitive topics in the field of nursing care, responsible handling of content, images, and personal data, as well as compliance with data protection regulations, are a given.

Location

This project is location independent.
