About the volunteering opportunity

In our mentoring project, we connect people on a one-on-one basis. We’re looking for individuals who would like to mentor people in need of support (primarily, but not exclusively, those with refugee or migration backgrounds) and assist them with various issues.

We offer you:
  • full-time staff members
  • Information on professional development courses and workshops
  • group activities and events
  • Certification of your volunteer work
  • (BVG) travel expense reimbursement, if needed

Your Tasks

We are looking for someone who would like to help an elderly man living in Neukölln with mild hearing and vision impairments with correspondence from government agencies. He receives regular mail, for example from the social services office, which he needs to read and, if necessary, process or respond to. Since writing—both by hand and digitally—is particularly difficult for him due to his visual impairment, he would appreciate assistance with this.

H. seems very youthful, open, friendly, and communicative. Regular meetings—about once a week, by mutual arrangement—would be ideal.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
