About the volunteering opportunity
With Nala-ai, we are developing a data-driven early-warning system that provides insight into the health of our rivers.
To do this, we combine measurement data from water bodies with weather and water level data and use artificial intelligence to better understand ecological relationships and detect critical changes early on.

In the long term, we would also like to make this technology available to other water protection initiatives.
To ensure this is done responsibly and in compliance with the law, we are seeking volunteer legal support.
Your Tasks
Our most important questions concern:
- Data protection and the GDPR in relation to our digital offerings
- Legally compliant use of Google Gemini and other AI applications
- Storage, processing, and sharing of data
- Publication and reuse of water body data as open data
- Rights to AI-generated content and software
- Relevant Requirements of the European AI Regulation
Who We’re Looking For:
A lawyer with expertise in data protection, IT, or AI law who can assist us in assessing the legal framework for our applications and developing practical legal foundations.
We are initially looking for a legal assessment of our current situation and recommendations for the most important next steps.
This is a volunteer position with flexible hours and can be carried out entirely online.
