About the volunteering opportunity

Das Haus der Familie in Stuttgart e.V. supports families, children, and individuals by providing educational, social, and support services. To ensure we can set up our digital operations effectively and securely, we’re looking for someone with experience in IT infrastructure and IT organization who’s eager to put their expertise to work for a good cause.

What’s involved?

We’d like an independent assessment of our existing IT landscape and an evaluation of where we’re currently well-positioned and where action is needed in the medium term.

The following topics, for example, could be considered:

  • IT security and data protection
  • User and permissions management
  • Microsoft 365 / Cloud usage
  • Backup and recovery strategies
  • Network infrastructure and Wi-Fi
  • Endpoint Management
  • Document Storage and Collaboration
  • Emergency and Outage Plans
  • Future-Proofing and Scalability of Our IT

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in IT administration, IT security, or IT consulting
  • A passion for supporting a nonprofit organization
  • Willingness to participate in a few discussions and assess our current situation
  • Ideally, an assessment with specific recommendations and priorities at the end

Time Commitment

Flexible, project-based support as agreed upon. This could involve a few consulting sessions as well as the joint development of recommendations.

What Your Support Will Achieve

With your expertise, you’ll help us make our digital work processes more secure, efficient, and future-proof. This will allow us to use our time and resources even more effectively to support families and people in Stuttgart.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Your Tasks

Your Responsibilities

  • Get to know our organization, workflows, and existing IT infrastructure
  • Reviewing and assessing our current hardware and software environment
  • Analyzing topics such as data security, data protection, user management, data backup, and digital collaboration
  • Identifying risks, vulnerabilities, and potential areas for improvement
  • Providing advice on appropriate standards and solutions for a nonprofit organization of our size
  • Developing practical recommendations and priorities for the coming years
  • If interested, assistance with implementing specific measures or support in selecting suitable service providers
This is explicitly not about managing our IT systems ourselves, but rather about obtaining an independent technical assessment, guidance, and advice so that we can make well-informed decisions for the future.

This call for proposals is aimed at people who would like to use their IT expertise for a socially meaningful purpose and help ensure that families, children, and residents in our neighborhood continue to benefit from a well-established and secure infrastructure in the future.
