About the volunteering opportunity

For our project, 1:1 reading community, we are looking for long-term reading mentors. Ideally you speak several languages :-)

Your Tasks

You support and accompany children and young people in reading independently, without pressure from school, in a playful and imaginative way.

The weekly reading lesson takes place at the pupil's school.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
You should be willing to be a reading mentor for a year and enjoy practicing with a student once a week.

Requirements
  • Age (at least) 16 years
  • extended certificate of good conduct required
  • Participation in the introductory seminar is obligatory

The Office for Civic Commitment of the AWO Cologne is a consulting service. People who are willing to volunteer will receive advice and will be placed in organisations that work with volunteers. Further priority will be given to LESEMENTOR Cologne, young volunteers, further education and voluntary refugee work.
