About the volunteering opportunity

Volunteers are needed to provide home support for Turkish-speaking people with dementia and their relatives.

Your Tasks

As a helper, you will regularly care for and activate a Turkish-speaking person with dementia at home. Among other things, you will help with errands to relieve the caring relatives in their day-to-day care and support.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
  • Age (at least) 18 years
  • simple certificate of good conduct required
  • Continuity
  • Empathy, sensitivity and openness in dealing with senior citizens
  • Participation in a 40-hour qualification training course
  • Knowledge of Turkish

The Office for Civic Commitment of the AWO Cologne is a consulting service. People who are willing to volunteer will receive advice and will be placed in organisations that work with volunteers. Further priority will be given to LESEMENTOR Cologne, young volunteers, further education and voluntary refugee work.
