About the volunteering opportunity
A serious illness in a family, such as cancer, turns a life upside down. Nothing is the way it used to be. Suddenly there are lots of doctor's appointments, the mother or father is so weakened by the treatments that there is hardly any energy and strength left for the healthy children. For these families it is a great relief if the daily routine for the children can be maintained as long as possible. To have time for three hours once a week in these families is a huge relief.
Your Tasks
You can arrange your time with the children individually. That means:
- You accompany the children e.g. to the kindergarten or to sports or pick them up afterwards
- Or spend some carefree time with the children in general, e.g. playing together on the playground, doing handicrafts together, helping with homework or making a trip to the zoo etc.
What's needed
You should already have some experience with children (e.g. through siblings, nephews, nieces...), have reliable time once a week for three hours and enjoy going out with people.

Important notice
We invite everyone who is interested to a personal meeting. So you can get to know us and get a picture of our team. To ensure that you are very well prepared for this demanding job, you will receive 40 hours of free training on the topics of death and mourning in the family system, communication, self-care and mindfulness. If you get involved with us, you will receive regular supervision, where you can discuss your work with other volunteers.
