About the volunteering opportunity
We collect garbage on the banks of the Rhine, at lakes, in parks and forests and have fun doing it.
We are supported in our campaigns by up to 400 Cologne residents. Together for a clean Cologne!

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
- You should show commitment and be keen to do something for the environment!
- You should have German and perhaps also English language skills
- There are no age limits. Everyone from toddlers to senior citizens is represented.

Important notice
Information on accessibility
- In principle, anyone can take part - regardless of whether they have a disability or not.
- Sometimes the terrain is a little rough (e.g. pebble beach on the banks of the Rhine), which makes it difficult for wheelchairs, for example, but there are usually always paved paths in the area where you can use the grabber as an alternative.
- We occasionally have a sign language interpreter with us, otherwise we communicate with deaf people via WhatsApp, for example.
- Of course, we can also speak in easy language on request, which does not exclude people with intellectual disabilities.

The Office for Civic Commitment of the AWO Cologne is a consulting service. People who are willing to volunteer will receive advice and will be placed in organisations that work with volunteers. Further priority will be given to LESEMENTOR Cologne, young volunteers, further education and voluntary refugee work.
