About the volunteering opportunity
Our museum presents objects of applied arts and design from the Middle Ages to the present day. Our working group offers public guided tours of the permanent collection and special exhibitions.
Your Tasks
The museum's working group offers public guided tours for visitors around three times a week and also meets weekly (Thursday afternoons) in the museum for internal training in the form of presentations and meetings.

What's needed
Volunteers must be native German speakers.
- Willingness to familiarize yourself independently with art history topics
- Enjoy communicating art historical contexts and objects of the decorative arts as part of public guided tours
- Willingness to participate in internal training courses
- Enjoy researching and preparing presentations on historical and art historical contexts (in the museum library or from home)
- Verbal fluency and not afraid to speak freely in front of groups of visitors

The Office for Civic Commitment of the AWO Cologne is a consulting service. People who are willing to volunteer will receive advice and will be placed in organisations that work with volunteers. Further priority will be given to LESEMENTOR Cologne, young volunteers, further education and voluntary refugee work.
