Our project "Befreunden" ("Friends") arranges volunteers with people suffering from depression to undertake social activities on a long-term and regular basis, in the spirit of friendship :)
We help lonely people find joy in activities again. We don't do therapy, it's like a friendship.
The volunteers take part in activities with those who have a depression, such as visiting cultural events, eating, drinking coffee, going on excursions, sports activities, talking on the phone or communicating via news services.
At regular get-togethers, volunteers share their experiences. You can always get advice on current questions and problems via our e-mail.
One should be interested in people who do not have it so easy because they are affected by depression. One should also have understanding, empathy, but also simply enjoy enjoyable activities with friends.
You do not have a therapeutic task, but should contact the association regularly and have the courage to ask questions.
The Horizons organisation supports people living with depression on their way back to life after treatment. Professional volunteers organise volunteers who plan activities together with a person with depression as a "friend" according to their interests and spend flexible free time together.
