About the volunteering opportunity
YOOW means "Young and old for one world" - the name says it all and therefore people of all ages can feel equally welcome here. Whether parallel to training, starting a career, between studying and working, or from the experience of a longer working life: you can find a volunteering opportunity with us or create one yourself.
Together with the Chiuno NGO, YOOW e.V. has been building the Chiuno Cultural Center in Malawi since 2018. It offers surrounding communities access to education, medical care and professional development. On-site teaching is already happening during the completion phase (until 2028). Your Tasks
Our project work for and in Malawi is becoming more and more extensive. We are therefore looking for committed people like you who want to make an effective contribution. As a volunteer or as an intern - we offer a wide range of opportunities to get involved, tailored to your interests, needs and available time:
- Project work remotely or in Berlin: writing funding applications and accounting for funding, communicating with funding partners and writing pitches, travel organization
- Work on site in Malawi: building kindergartens and schools, well construction, school scholarships, medical aid
Do you have any other ideas? We are open to your interests and learning aspirations.
We also issue an internship certificate for interns. The scope and length of the internship (as well as volunteering) can be agreed individually.

Young and Old for One World: younger and older people who want to create a fair and liveable world together. We carry out development work on the African continent in close cooperation with local partner organizations.
In Malawi, together with the Chiuno NGO, we are building the Chiuno Cultural Center, which includes a kindergarten, an elementary school and opportunities for vocational training and medical care.
YOOW was founded in 2004 and has successfully implemented projects in Sierra Leone and training programs for young refugees in Berlin since 2008.
