About 150 children and young people from 0 to 17 years live in the refugee shelter Albert-Kuntz-Straße in Hellersdorf. Due to the difficult learning conditions that are currently occuring by studying from home, many questions arise among the children that cannot be answered as easily as usual. Start a Skype call and help the kids with their homework!
We are looking for volunteers to connect with the children and teenagers via video chat and go through their homework with them. This involves various subjects such as German, Maths and English, but the concrete need is still being identified at the moment and the volunteers will be matched according to their personal strenghts and the childrens' needs. Also the homework support serves as a German course for the young people, so that their German skills do not get worse during the weeks free of school.
A good general education is sufficient. However, special knowledge in subjects such as physics or mathematics for our young people is welcome. Openness and compassion for young people in partly difficult life situations are also important.
Please note: For this volunteering opportunity, you need German skills on the level „Advanced German skills“.
It is ok to only help once.
Am I covered by accident and/or casualty insurance during the project?
For this project, we ask you to arrange an individual meeting.
