The project is aimed at single parents and parents/families who would like to supplement their family environment with a reliable relationship.
Giving life more meaning, accompanying a child and its parents on their journey through life, passing on experience and knowledge, providing relief and support - this is what our family mentoring program offers.

Your Tasks
We are looking for committed family mentors or surrogate grandparents for families. We offer training and support.
You support a family in terms of care and daily arrangements.
The project is long-term and you will become a reference person in the family.

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- Age (at least) 18 years
- extended police clearance certificate
- Empathy, humor and patience
- Reliability, desire for a long-term commitment
- Enjoy working with children

As a rule, the family mentors visit the family/child once a week. Ultimately, however, the assignment should of course suit everyone involved and the scope can then be discussed in the initial discussions on site.

The Office for Civic Commitment of the AWO Cologne is a consulting service. People who are willing to volunteer will receive advice and will be placed in organisations that work with volunteers. Further priority will be given to LESEMENTOR Cologne, young volunteers, further education and voluntary refugee work.
