About the volunteering opportunity

Many refugees urgently need support in learning German. In the current situation, face-to-face offers are still very difficult. Due to the discontinuation of the German courses, the digital language tandems were created. Here, one volunteer and one refugee exchange information through a digital chat program of their own choice and on topics of their own choosing, such as hobbies, interests, or the hurdles and pitfalls of the German language. We are looking for dedicated volunteers who have time once or twice a week to digitally support a refugee in learning German.

Your Tasks

You are free to choose the content and the time frame. However, we recommend at least 1.5 hours per week or 45 minutes twice a week. The focus should be on the language needs of the tandem, because the language levels of those seeking help are very different. While some may need help with everyday language skills, others may want to develop and consolidate their grammar or vocabulary skills at a higher level. Be creative and take advantage of digital opportunities!

As a volunteer, you will receive a varied support program in the form of online workshops, exchange meetings and digital learning materials to help you in your work.
