In Hamburg, more than 1,000 students leave school every year without any qualifications. These young people often have no chance of participating in society and pursuing a self-determined educational path. JEA! stands for "Jeder:Jedem ein Abschluss" (qualification for everyone). We accompany pupils to their first general school-leaving certificate (ESA) who receive the prognosis that they will not be able to graduate without support after the 7th grade.

Your Tasks
Your tasks:
If you want to make a difference, then become a JEA! coach now! Four students accompany a group of 15 pupils through intensive support in the form of:
- Small group coaching (max. 5 students)
- Subject-specific tutoring (math, German, English)
- Individual coaching
- Workshops on topics such as mental health, digital education, practical experience
We offer you:
- An expense allowance of 45 euros per appointment (trainer allowance)
- Preparation for volunteering through initial training
- Continuous support from experts

- Opportunity for personal development through free training on the topics of coaching, social pedagogy, didactics, empowerment and mental health
- Proof of volunteer work for your CV
- Team-building events and networking opportunities
- Support through professional methods in the subjects of coaching
- Free snacks during the coaching sessions
- After one year of volunteering, you will receive the Hamburg Engagement Card with lots of discounts
Locations:
- STS Wilhelmsburg
- STS am Hafen (Neustadt)
- Ilse-Löwenstein-School (Barmbek)
- School on the Veddel
- STS Alter Teichweg (Dulsberg)
Start date:
- Winter semester 2024/2025
- Once a week for 2 hours from November to March at a school (kick-off training in October)

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
Your profile:
- You are an enrolled student
- You enjoy working with young people (12-16 years old)
- You are empathetic and can put yourself in the students' shoes
- You are interested in social commitment
- A pedagogical degree is NOT a prerequisite for your involvement with JEA!

SchlauFox e.V.
SchlauFox e.V. supports socio-economically disadvantaged children and young people on their way to education. Our volunteers supervise them in various projects in which they help the pupils to graduate from school, to gain knowledge about healthy cooking and, if they have escaped here, to find their way into the German school life.
