Support us in the emergency overnight stay 1 in the Lehrter Str.

In the winter months from November to April, the Berlin City Mission opens a total of 3 emergency overnight stays. Many people who would otherwise have to spend the night outside in the cold are given shelter, something to eat, clothing, medical care, counselling and mental support here.

Activity: Your commitment will take place in the evening. You give out food to guests, pick up donations from the bakery and staff the scullery. You will assist in the clothing room, baggage claim or sleeping area. If you wish, you arrange the evening by music or devotion or communicate with guests.

Requirement: basically age of majority; but you can already volunteer from 16 years with an adult accompanying person. For this honorary position, you must speak German or English or have a companion with you who speaks one of the two languages. In the case of pre-existing health conditions, we recommend consulting your doctor and the facility management to protect yourself; unfortunately, cooperation is not possible in the case of pregnancy.

So this honorary office will bring you joy: You are open to life situations of homeless people. You keep track of things and like to act in a team. You are reliable and take responsibility. The most important thing: You have an open ear for our guests! It is important that you meet each guest with friendliness, appreciation and at eye level.
We are particularly happy about volunteers who are close to the Christian faith or are Christian themselves. However, this attitude is not expected.

Time commitment: We would like a regular commitment. However, shorter commitments are also possible.
When: 06:30- 11:00 p.m.

Expected attitude: You are convinced that every human being is given an inalienable dignity. You are respectful towards the Christian faith as well as other religions and world views.
