The drivers and co-drivers of our vans meet at our location in Neuss from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 08:15. The vehicles are loaded with boxes and then drive on fixed routes to supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, etc. in the district of Neuss. There, the drivers and co-drivers take over donated food, pre-sort it and load the goods into our vehicles. We then distribute the food to our food banks for distribution as well as to social institutions such as day-care centres, all-day schools, youth centres and women's refuges.
The tours are back at our head office at around 1 pm.
Most volunteers engage 1 x weekly. Depending on how much time is to be donated, you are welcome to join us more frequently, but also at irregular intervals.
A tour lasts approximately from 8 am to 1 pm.
The Neusser Tafel is a non-profit, charitable association. Our goal is the financial relief of needy people as a supplement to state support measures. We want to create a balance between scarcity and abundance. To this end, we collect surplus food and donations in kind and pass them on to those in need.
