About the volunteering opportunity
We teach primary school children basic computer skills to give them direction, security and media competence in an IT world that is confusing for them. We show them how to control and program the computer with simple steps within the framework of modules that are coordinated with each other. Programming not only promotes analytical and spatial thinking, but also teamwork and contact skills. The minicontroller "Calliope-mini", which is favoured in primary school lessons, is also used. You can find out more about the Kinderakademie Düsseldorf here.
Your Tasks
As a member of our dedicated team, you will help show children simple steps in computer operation and programming. The group sizes are usually 8 to 10 children. We use "Scratch" a graphical programming interface, which consists of individual components that are assembled, similar to "Lego".
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
You don't need to have any special knowledge, but we assume that you enjoy working with children. And of course you know how to use a computer. If you are interested in trying out new things and can also respond to the wishes of children, you are welcome to join us.
Time required
You have the opportunity to commit 3 hours on Friday afternoons and/or Saturday mornings. We are happy about any support.
Important notice
We need an extended certificate of good conduct from you. We will pay the costs for this, including expenses that you incur in the course of our work with us.
