Family support after the birth of a child

The practical and everyday support in a family is temporary but intensive. Volunteers go to a family once or twice a week, for a period of about 3 to 5 months, to help them cope with the new situation. Before an assignment in a family begins, the family and the volunteer get to know each other. Both sides then decide whether the "chemistry" is right and whether support is provided. In a personal first interview with the coordinator you will receive further information about the wellcome volunteer work. Regular meetings and exchanges with other women volunteers, free further training as well as the reliable and professional contact to the coordinator support you in your commitment.

You support the family by looking after the baby, playing with the sibling, accompanying the mother to appointments or simply listening and conveying security with your presence. The assignment depends on the personal needs of the family and the possibilities of the helpers. You can volunteer in the districts of Mitte, Sendling, Sendling-Westpark, Schwanthaler Höhe, Thalkirchen, Forstenried, Fürstenried, Großhadern and Solln.

Also and especially in the special time under Corona, families with a baby often need support. That is why our wellcome angels are still out and about. Nevertheless a little different, because of course we keep to the applicable distance and hygiene rules to the Corona virus and the health protection on both sides - families and volunteers - has of course priority.

We welcome volunteers who bring joy and experience in working with infants and toddlers and who are interested in supporting young families. In addition to reliability and tolerance, friendliness, empathy as well as discretion and the ability to set boundaries are important in supporting families.
