About the volunteering opportunity

We are a consortium of 5 Berlin Catering Companies working in collaboration with the Berliner Senat and City Mission. Our aim is to support institutions in dealing with the current humanitarian crisis resulting from the war in Ukraine, and particularly in providing food to the incoming Ukrainian refugees passing by the Berlin Central Station, with dignity and humanity.

We expect around 10.000 people to transit through Hauptbahnhof in the next 6 weeks to reach further destinations and we quickly set up a new infrastructure which will run from Thursday, March 24th, on a 24/7 basis, and that’s where we need help.

Your Tasks

We want to be able to offer a friendly smile and good quality warm food.. We need support in the distribution of soup, sandwiches, hot drinks and help with basic logistics. The tasks are covered together with catering personnel, provided by the consortium.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity you don't need any German skills.

We recommend that all volunteers who are regularly involved in the food distribution have a health pass. However, this is not a must. Especially Ukrainian, Russian and English language skills are helpful in all tasks, but not mandatory, as there is a Stadtmission Infopoint near the courtyard, where all kinds of questions for our guests can be answered. For this volunteering opportunity you have to be at least 16 years old. The 3G rule applies.

Please note, we are currently planning until April 4th. More shifts are to come in the next weeks.

What to bring

We recommend bringing warm clothes, as the food court is located on floor -1.
Take good care of yourself! Don't volunteer more than 6 hours. You can get drinks and food from us.

Important notice

We recommend bringing with you some warm clothes as the food distribution area is located at floor -1.
