About the volunteering opportunity
The carrier is non-profit association, which is committed since 2013 for girls and women with and without immigration and / or newcomer background, has started in October with a project beflügelt. It creates a space for girls and women with different offers, in which they can feel comfortable, deal with socio-political issues and get help for self-help.
For this we are looking for committed mentors, who could imagine to take over a mentorship for one to three mentees.
The mentors should be between 19 and 27 years old, resident in Cologne (preferably Cologne Holweide) and motivated to be the younger mentees a support and help, in school and life issues. Mentees are girls and young women between 14 and 21 years, with flight and/or migration history.
The mentors are permanently supported by the project coordinator available. They are not left alone with any questions and, in addition to the support functions, should also be given the opportunity themselves to discover and expand their strengths and potentials and their own network, especially for their own professional and career planning.
Your Tasks
Accordingly, the mentors tasks would be to provide individual and academic support to the mentees, once or twice a week, one afternoon during the week, in order to compensate for deficits and to create a sense of achievement.
