Support of a language café in Neukölln
Solidarische Nachbarschaft im Richardkiez (SoliNaR)
- Migrants & Refugees
- Education & Language Support
About the volunteering opportunity
We want to connect refugees and migrants with their new neighborhood - the goal is to introduce German learners to the new language beyond the classroom, to get to know each other and to exchange ideas. At the language café, you can play language learning games together over drinks and snacks, help language learners with their homework for the German course, or just chat. We provide dictionaries and learning materials - but you are also welcome to bring your own ideas, games, etc.!
Your Tasks
The task is to talk with German learners of different language levels and practice German in a relaxed atmosphere. We always start with a little game to get to know each other and then spread out over the tables, which are divided according to different language levels (A1-C1)
What's needed
You should be able to approach people from different backgrounds with an open mind and have a desire to have a conversation with different people. No perfect knowledge of the German language is required. It is only important to be able to converse in German.
Time required
The language café takes place weekly on Thursdays from 19:00 to 20:30.
Important notice
You do not need to bring any materials. We will have drinks and snacks, as well as games, dictionaries and German books. Ideas for games are welcome
Where?
Solidarische Nachbarschaft im Richardkiez (SoliNaR)
The SoliNaR (Solidary Neighbours of Solidarity in the Richardkiez) is a place for mutual activities, a space for encountering and exchanging. Our intercultural cooking croup, city tours, a langue café and different art, music, theatre and literature workshops afford the opportunity to come together and get to know each other. We want to support creative potential talents in the neighbourhood of Richardkiez, give the chance to participate in city development and culture and promote solidarity in our neighbourhood. The SoliNaR is open for everyone, whether with or without migratory background, refugee or recently immigrated families, single mothers and fathers or seniors. Together we want to create a vivid place, which is fully accessible to everyone, in the Richardkiez.
