Spreepaten - Support for young people with refugee experience

Young refugees face the same challenges as other young people. They finish school, try to start working life and build their own lives. This path is difficult, and it becomes even more difficult when you have to find your way alone in a foreign country. Can you imagine accompanying a young refugee on this path for a while? As a Spree Mentor, you are the contact person and confidant for a young person with refugee experience.

Your Tasks

You support and accompany a young person between 18 and 25 years.
Every mentorship is different and yet there are usually similar questions:

• How does the transition from school to training?
• How does that work with the residence permit?
• How does it work with the authorities in Germany?
• How to find an apartment in Berlin?
• Where are there great leisure activities that cost little?

Even Mentors can - and must - not know everything. In training, workshops, network meetings and individual case consultations, we support you on their way as a Mentor. We are your contact for all questions concerning your mentorship. Would you like to help, but do not yet have any contact with a refugee?
In a tried and tested procedure, we arrange suitable mentorships from which both sides benefit.

The youngcaritas Berlin belongs to the Caritasverband für das Erzbistum Berlin e.V. and promotes young people's commitment. Our goal is to introduce young people to politically and socially "explosive" topics and to teach them a more attentive and conscious use of environmental resources, both through theoretical input and through practical implementation. The goal of youngcaritas Berlin is to win as many young people as possible for voluntary work, be it for the youngcaritas projects "Kulturbuddys", *vergissmeinnicht* or through counselling and placement in various institutions and projects.
