About the volunteering opportunity
Family mentors
Every family and all single parents know times when everything becomes too much and everyday life is a burden. Often a social network is then missing, such as grandparents, other family members or friends. This is where our volunteer family mentors come in. Since 2006, they have been supporting mothers and fathers in difficult phases of life. The concrete work is based on the respective needs and life situations of the families.
We select the family mentors specifically, prepare them carefully for their work and qualify them for their assignment
Your Tasks
Examples of concrete help/support:
- Listening, having time, conveying appreciation and giving encouragement
- Support with childcare and homework
- Household organization
- Support with visits to authorities and talks with teachers
The need for help is determined together with the family. The exact support offers are then derived from this.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
Patience and enjoyment of working with families.
A prerequisite for the assignment as a godmother/ godfather is the presentation of an extended police clearance certificate. We issue a certificate for the application for the free of charge.
We are happy to introduce interested volunteers to our association and our work in a personal consultation. If you want to support us actively, you can then take out a membership in our association (annual membership fee from 24.00 €).
Time required
The activities usually include one day a week for several hours. The exact times (day of the week and times) are agreed directly between the mentor and the families concerned.
