About the volunteering opportunity
Schülerpaten Berlin e.V. brings together mentors and students with an Arab migration background. Our mentors provide tutoring at the students homes and are also their contact persons for everyday problems and questions about finding an apprenticeship or career. Each of our mentorships thus ensures a little more equality of opportunity in the German education system.
The Department of Support & Further Education organizes, among other things, our kick-off seminar, workshops and exchange formats for the mentors. In addition, we take care of questions about ongoing mentorships.
Currently, we are looking for volunteers who support us in the support of the mentors and volunteers who support us in the continuing education of mentors.
Your Tasks
Support of the mentors:
As a supervisor, you have an open ear for the questions and problems of the mentors
You keep regular contact with your mentors during the mentorship
You support depending on your time capacity at the events of Schülerpaten Berlin
Further training of godmothers:
Collaboration at the kick-off seminar in the form of on-site coordination, presentation of learning content (every two months)
Organization of workshops and on-site contact person for the workshop leadership as well as our mentors
Organization and implementation of exchange formats, such as our regulars table or our tandem events.
What's needed
Your profile
You have about 1-2 hours per week to volunteer with us
You identify with the goals of Schülerpaten Berlin e.V.. and have the desire to inspire others for the project
You enjoy organizing, communicating and working in a team
Knowledge in the areas of pedagogy, didactics and / or intercultural competence are desirable, but not a must - everything you need, you learn with us!

Schülerpaten Berlin e.V.
Founded in 2009, the registered association Schülerpaten Berlin e.V. aims to improve educational opportunities for children with an Arabic migration background and to enhance integration through intercultural exchange in Berlin. In a careful process volunteers are matched to children in need of tutoring. The mentors are trained by experienced instructors in order to acquire basic educational skills and an understanding of the Arab world. The provision of financial means for recreational activities between mentor and mentee ensures that the relationship is not solely restricted to tutoring.
