About the volunteering opportunity

Since 2015, we have been offering 31 people a roof over their heads and a hot meal in our year-round emergency overnight shelter. The aim is not only to protect those affected from death by frostbite, but also to provide year-round medium- to long-term assistance in returning to regular care systems. Our emergency overnight stay is open to all and without special conditions.

We offer you a meaningful activity in a small, nice and motivated team and insights into the work with homeless people.

We are looking forward to you!

Your Tasks

Your tasks include the admission and care of guests, food and clothing distribution and the enforcement of house rules. In addition, guests should be offered low-threshold counseling and referral to further counseling services.

A more detailed job description will be provided upon contact.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.

You should have the motivation to help poor and homeless people to get a decent basic supply. For parity reasons, you should be at least 23 years old, preferably older.

Also important are knowledge of German, basic PC skills and a certain affinity for online applications.

Time required

Regularly

On weekdays, on weekends, at night

Flexible days. You can decide yourself when exactly you want to work. The shift schedule is always made a month in advance :)  Since working with homeless people can be a more demanding activity, we rely on long-term volunteers.

Late shifts (17:30-23:30) and night shifts (23:30-8:30) are needed. There is a compensation of 25€ per late shift and 30€ per night shift

Important notice

Volunteers should keep in mind that some of our guests are drug addicts or have multiple mental illnesses. Therefore, experience in this area would be an advantage.

But our employees never work alone, always at least in pairs.
