About the volunteering opportunity

Since 2015, we have been providing 31 people with a roof over their heads and a hot meal in our year-round emergency shelter. The aim is not only to save those affected from freezing to death, but also to provide medium to long-term help with returning to regular care systems all year round. Our emergency overnight stay is open to everyone and without any special conditions.

We offer you a meaningful job in a small, friendly and motivated team and an insight into working with homeless people.

We look forward to meeting you!

Your Tasks

Your tasks will include admitting and looking after guests, serving food and clothes and enforcing the house rules. In addition, guests should be offered low-threshold counseling and referral to further counseling services.

A more detailed job description will be provided when you contact us.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.

You should have the motivation to help poor and homeless people to receive decent basic care. For parity reasons, you should be at least 23 years old, preferably older.

German language skills, basic PC skills and a certain affinity for online applications are also important.

Time required

Regularly
Discussed individually
On weekdays, on weekends, at night

Flexible days. You can decide for yourself exactly when you want to work. The shift schedule is always made one month in advance :) As working with homeless people can be a demanding job, we rely on long-term volunteers

Late shifts (5:30 p.m. -11:30 p.m.) and night shifts (11.30 p.m -8:30 a.m.) are required. There is a compensation of 25€ per late shift and 30€ per night shift

Important notice

Volunteers should be aware that some of our guests are drug addicts or have multiple mental illnesses. Experience in this area would therefore be an advantage.

Our employees never work alone, but always at least in pairs.
