Tandem for refugee women: Spend time and practice German with women one on one

In our house live women (50 years +) who want to learn more of the German language and culture. For individual women we are looking for a tandem partner who would like to meet with them once a week to speak German, go for a walk, have a coffee, etc.

In this way, we would like to open a door for integration and give the women an opportunity to improve their language skills and gain a different perspective on life in Germany/Berlin. 

Your Tasks

• Agreeing on meetings together with the resident
• Communicating in (simple) German with the resident
• Suggesting ideas to the resident: Going for a walk, having tea, trying board games or attending an event together, etc.

What's needed

• Adult women
• Patience, openness
• A warm and open attitude - be open to just talking and having a pleasant time with the women

Time required

Flexible to arrange. At the first personal meeting, we can find suitable times for volunteering together.

Important notice

Either good knowledge of German or German as a native language.

Since 25.06.2016, Albatros gGmbH has been operating the community accommodation for refugees. The GU Gehrenseestr. with a capacity for 200 people almost exclusively accommodates families from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
