About the volunteering opportunity

With this project, the AGA wants to contribute to the protection of cheetahs, which are threatened with extinction. It took the cheetah 4 million years to evolve into the unique animal it is today. It took humans less than 100 years to bring it to the brink of extinction. As part of the species conservation exhibition, children, young people and adults learn about the way of life of this charismatic big cat using the example of the cheetah, they are introduced to global ecological, social and economic connections and threats to biodiversity and are motivated to make a lasting commitment to species conservation through their own behavior.

The species conservation exhibition has received the "National Award - Education for Sustainable Development" 2024/2025.

Your Tasks

As a cheetah ambassador, you should and may become active yourself for the protection of the cheetahs and show the species protection exhibition in schools, at the university, at an action day, etc. in your region. We are looking forward to many active people, who would like to set up great activities with the strong and catchy exhibition, e.g. combined with a handicraft activity, teaching units or similar. We are also happy to provide supplementary materials. the exhibition can be borrowed from us free of charge. We will of course be happy to help with tips and ideas for your project.

Aktionsgemeinschaft Artenschutz (AGA) e.V.

The Aktionsgemeinschaft Artenschutz (AGA) e.V. has been committed to the conservation of endangered animal and plant species and their habitats for 30 years. The AGA is internationally active to promote the protection and conservation of nature, to increase environmental awareness and to prevent the destruction of the basis of life of humans, animals and plants.

In order to be able to implement its projects sustainably, the AGA works together with competent local partner organisations worldwide. The AGA's projects include, for example, the protection of sea turtles threatened with extinction, the rearing of elephant and cheetah orphans or the protection of brown bears in Romania and foxes in Germany. In order to develop effective and scientifically based protection measures, the AGA also carries out basic research. For example, research is being conducted into the distribution areas of koalas and penguins in order to better protect them there. With constructive conservation concepts the AGA contributes to the solution of existing human-wildlife conflicts, for example by using guard dogs to protect the cheetahs. By designating protected areas and tree planting campaigns, the AGA also works to preserve the habitat of endangered species.

In order to raise awareness of endangered species and their habitats, the AGA produces extensive exhibitions with appropriate teaching materials, which can be borrowed free of charge. More information can be found at www.aga-artenschutz.de/umweltbildung.html
