The practical and everyday support in a family with a baby is limited in time. Volunteers* spend 2-3 hours a week once or twice a week for about 3-4 months in a family and help them to manage the new situation. Before the volunteer work in a family starts, the family and the volunteer get to know each other. Both sides then decide whether the "chemistry" is right and whether support is provided. In a personal initial interview with the coordinator you will receive further information about the wellcome volunteer placement. Regular meetings and exchanges with other women volunteers, free further training and the reliable and professional contact to the coordinator will support you in your work.
You support the family by looking after the baby, playing with the sibling, accompanying the mother to appointments or simply listening and conveying security with your presence. The assignment depends on the personal needs of the family and the possibilities of the supporter.
We are especially happy if you bring along joy and experience in dealing with babies and toddlers as well as the desire to support young families. In addition to reliability and tolerance, friendliness, empathy as well as discretion and the ability to set boundaries are important when supporting families.
The assignment period is usually 4-6 months for 2-3 hours once or twice a week.
