About the volunteering opportunity

Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft is active in the summer months at over 80 water rescue stations on the German North Sea and Baltic Sea with volunteer lifeguards. With this voluntary commitment, each volunteer contributes significantly to the safety of holidaymakers and thus ensures the safest beaches worldwide.

Especially in the time from May to mid-July we need more lifeguards to make the beaches safe for holidaymakers. This is where each individual is needed.

Your Tasks

Lifeguards patrol the beaches. This includes water supervision, any necessary prevention and rescue measures, the care of minor to moderate injuries, hygiene measures within the sanitary premises, as well as educational work on water safety towards beach guests.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.

Minimum age 16 years - upwards there is no age limit, only the fitness counts.

Basic requirement is the German Lifeguard Badge Silver (DRSA Silver) and a first aid course, both not older than two years.

If the DRSA Silver has been successfully taken once, the rescue ability can also be proven annually according to PO 410.2.

Time required

Project-based
On weekdays, on weekends, during the day

Our lifeguards always commit themselves weekly (Sat.-Sat.) for at least 1 week, preferably 2 weeks at a time. The guard time begins at 9:00 or at some stations at 10:00 and ends mostly at 18:00 (on the North Sea islands, the tides may result in shortened operating times).

Important notice

Team spirit, willingness to help and commitment are a great advantage.

In return, we provide free accommodation, pay travel costs (DB 2nd class or car travel flat rate) and offer full board, or a food allowance. In addition, there is daily 8, - € pocket money.

On request, we can also issue you a certificate for your commitment.
