About the volunteering opportunity
We are looking for volunteer language mediators for Persian-German, German-Persian, who accompany our residents to various appointments and translate there.
Many residents have only been in Germany for a short time and have little or no knowledge of German. Nevertheless, they have to attend many different appointments (doctors, bank, various authorities). Often it is difficult to find suitable companions in one's own environment to accompany and translate the appointments. Therefore we need your support.
Your Tasks
- Accompanying residents to various appointments in order to translate there
- Assistance in finding one's way on the road and on site
- Meeting at the place of work, as well as accompaniment from the residence to it
These points will be discussed individually for the respective appointments, taking into account your possibilities.
What's needed
- You should have a good knowledge of German and be a native speaker or have a very good knowledge of Persian (dari/farsi).
- Interest and sensitivity in dealing with the target group.
Time required
You should be flexible with time from Mondays to Fridays to accompany to one or two appointments per week. Time commitment may vary depending on distance and possible waiting times, but should not exceed 2 hours per appointment
Important notice
You must present an extended police certificate of good conduct; this is free of charge for you as part of the commitment.
Sufficient measles protection for employees in community accommodations in accordance with the Measles Protection Act.
