Commitment to more togetherness and diversity

You want to work for a society that excludes no one? You want to bring people together and work for openness and tolerance? Do you enjoy meeting new people and exchanging ideas? Then you've come to the right place!

Start with a Friend mediates friendships between people with and without an migration background. It is particularly important to us that we create encounters at eye level, so that friendships can develop.

For this we are always looking for support.

Of course, you're not doing all this alone. At each location there is a volunteer team that works together with a lot of joy, fun and SwaF spirit. We are always happy to welcome new faces. The topics around migration, diversity and anti-discrimination are very important to us. That's why we have many different seminars in addition to the work in the team. You are welcome to participate. You don't need any previous experience.

Time required

Start with a Friend connects immigrants and locals in tandems based on interests and needs. Ideally, a friendship develops out of this, but in any case, a social network is created that makes it easier for immigrants to have a good start in Germany. Start with a Friend accompanies and advises the tandems after the matching and organises events to bring the tandems into contact with each other. It is also important to us to create structures in which people can get involved, even if they are tied up in their work and family life. The time schedule is therefore flexible; further training courses are offered but are optional. So far, Start with a Friend is available in 21 cities nationwide.
