About the volunteering opportunity

We are looking for dedicated people who are interested in supporting families affected by incarceration. If a parent has to go to prison, family members are quickly confronted with new, uncomfortable issues. New stresses, different role assignments, financial difficulties, altered bonding and relationship possibilities, and dealing with incarceration towards children, daycare, school, and others can all be new challenges.

Support for the affected children, who now have to deal with completely changed living conditions, can be a helpful relief for all involved.

Your Tasks

The form of support can vary depending on the family and can range from recreational activities with the children, everyday relief to accompanying custodial visits.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.

We would like to have regular visits for the families concerned by tolerant, reliable and open-minded caregivers who are at least 18 years old.

Time required

Regularly
Approx. 3 hours per week.

Depending on the needs of the individual family, support is provided once a week for approximately 3 hours.

Important notice

For the committed volunteers there is a preparatory sensitization course with 12 units. After the matching with a suitable family there will be a professional accompaniment with the help of exchange rounds, supervision and training opportunities.

If you have time, energy and the desire to volunteer for families affected by detention, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to meeting you!
