About the volunteering opportunity
The volunteers of our hospital visiting service have made it their mission to bring joy and variety to everyday hospital life. When you're sick, it's hard. When you're sick and lonely, it's twice as hard. Supposedly small services such as sensitive conversations or walks together have a healing effect, especially on people who are ill or in distress.
At St. Mary's Hospital, pastoral care is available to patients as an attentive listener and comforting companion. This personal encounter from "person to person" is always interesting and enriching. This is also the feeling of the volunteers of our hospital visiting service, who come to the wards once a week and offer themselves as conversation partners or companions for walks.
With these simple gestures, the volunteers make a significant contribution to the human atmosphere of our hospital and thus also to the recovery process of our patients. What they give, they get back in very different ways.
