Actively support the bicycle workshop Velo-Fit together with young people

Velofit is a youth and leisure project in the form of a small bicycle workshop in Berlin Kreuzberg. At Velofit, bicycles belonging to residents of the neighborhood are repaired by young people between the ages of 10 and 16, and disused bicycles are made roadworthy again. For this, the young people not only receive a small amount of pocket money in appreciation, but also professional and pedagogical guidance.
The normal workshop operation takes place Mon.-Mi. between 14.00 and 18.00 o'clock. On Thursdays between 14.00 and 18.00 we run a self-help workshop for children and young people.

Your Tasks

Activity: Leisure activities for children and young people through instruction and joint repair of bicycles. Children and young people should be enabled to repair their own bicycles with a little experience and thereby be strengthened in work-related skills. Occasionally also accompaniment of excursions or joint cooking.

What's needed

Prerequisites: Interest in or experience repairing bicycles. Enjoy working with children and youth. Good knowledge of German is required. Since we work with minors we need an extended police clearance certificate, we can provide an application for this.

So you will enjoy this honorary position: You enjoy working on the bikes together with children and young people. You like to work together in a team in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy intercultural work.

Time required

Time commitment: One to three times a week. Since we always work 2-hour shifts (2pm - 4pm and 4pm - 6pm) it is possible to join us for 4 or 2 hours.

When: Monday to Wednesday from 14.00 - 18.00 hrs
