Volunteer doctors* for open.med Lichtenberg Berlin

Doctors of the World is the German section of the international humanitarian organization Médecins du Monde/Doctors of the World. Doctors of the World is committed to ensuring that all people everywhere can assert their right to health - with medical aid and political work.

In the open.med Lichtenberg Berlin project, we advise and care for people without health insurance or difficult access to the health care system within the framework of consultation hours. The majority of our patients belong to vulnerable groups. In addition to medical care, we support these people with socio-legal and psychosocial counseling. The main goal of the project is the (re)integration of the patients into the regular health care system.

From May 2023 we offer 2x weekly general medical consultation and 1x monthly gynecological/pediatric consultation. You should be available for a consultation 1-2x monthly.

To support our team during consultation hours, we are looking for volunteer doctors in the following medical disciplines:

• General practitioners 
• Gynecologists
• Pediatricians

If you are a specialist in a specialty not listed above, we are also happy to hear from you. We would like to expand our services for our patients and are always happy to hear from dedicated medical professionals.

• You have a license to practice and possibly already several years of practical experience.
• You have basic computer skills.
• You identify with the objective and values of Doctors of the World.
• You have time capacity on office hours days:

         o    Monday 11am-3pm
         o    Wednesday 2pm-6pm

• You have good empathy skills and show a sensitive approach to people in vulnerable situations.
• You enjoy working in a team

You should be available for office hours 1-2x per month. Consultation hours are held on Mondays 11am-3pm and Wednesdays 2pm-6pm.
