Become an ambassador for "Zusammenleben Willkommen" (Living together welcome) and support people with a refugee backround in their search for a room in a shared apartment

Why are people with a refugee backround denied the human rights to privacy, housing and participation?! Do you ask yourself the same question? Then support people with refugee backrounds as part of our volunteer team with finding a room in a shared apartment. Because life in mass accommodations is not humane.

"Zusammenleben Willkommen" (Living together welcome) formerly "Flüchtlinge Willkommen" (refugees welcome) has been bringing together housing providers and people with a refugee backround since 2014 in order to initiate communal living.

For this purpose, vacant rooms can be posted on our website, which we arrange for refugees. We are contact persons for questions concerning living together and financing. We are committed to an open society in which solidarity and living together as equals are a given. In addition to the Berlin office, there is a volunteer team in Düsseldorf that supports refugees by advising them in their search for a shared flats and by raising awareness for the situation of refugees in camps at cultural events.

Your Tasks

There are different tasks from which you can choose what suits you best:

• Combine meaningful work with fun as an ambassador for solidary coexistence and inform at festivals, concerts and cultural events about the situation of refugees in camps. Convince people to register their free room with us.
• Plan and organize events to generate publicity for our causes and bring people together.
• Share your knowledge and support our WG consultations, which enable refugees to find rooms according to their needs
• Together with our team, inform people in the camps about their rights and ways to find other housing.
• Take care of your local group's social media account.

What's needed

The only thing you need is motivation and some time!

You can contribute according to your strengths, interests and capacities.

For all areas you can participate in trainings and acquire valuable knowledge about asylum and housing law, discrimination-sensitive support work or event organization.

Time required

You can choose the amount of time you spend on your commitment. If you organize or visit events and inform people about the living situation in the camps and the possibility of finding their free rooms, you can flexibly divide your time according to how it fits into your life.

If you want to accompany refugees in the shared apartment counseling and support them in finding a room, a more regular and binding commitment is important.

Important notice

For our work it is important to deal critically with racism and discrimination.

It is also important that you can work independently, especially if there is no local group in your place. We support you, of course, but your ideas and your own initiative are also needed.

We do not offer BuFdi or other programs and can therefore not offer a visa for volunteering with us.

  "Zusammenleben Willkommen - WG-Zimmer für geflüchtete Menschen" (Living Together Welcome - Shared Rooms for Refugees) brings together housing providers and refugees from mass accommodations to enable living together in solidarity at eye level.
