GLACIS OPEN AIR Magdeburg 2023 - Volunteer for an admission-free, sustainable Open Air in Magdeburg

We are looking for committed people for our festival "GLACIS OPEN AIR Magdeburg 2023", which has been held in Glacis Park in Magdeburg since 2021. We want to promote live music culture in Magdeburg and the surrounding area and make music, culture and social education accessible for all people - especially those who don't have the money for it. That is why we fund ourselves with donations, sponsorships and grants and do not charge admission. In addition, we want to raise the sensibility for topics like awareness, sustainability, human rights, climate and environmental protection. We design our event according to these principles and offer workshops on the topics.

On Saturday, July 22nd, 2023, 10 cultural collectives will perform on a total of 6 meadows which all need to be supervised. Our music offer is very broad and covers indie, pop, hip-hop, reggae, rock and electronica. But we also offer a cultural program of cycling, yoga, panels, readings, poetry slam, outdoor cinema and more. Last year we had 8,000 guests throughout the day.

Your Tasks

Set Up Day: Thursday 20.07.2023 💪

During the Set up on Thursday we need support  for the "structural engineering", so pavilions, stage plates, fairy lights, first design elements ...

Set Up Day: Friday 21.07.2023 💪

During the Set up on Friday we need support for construction of meadow lighting, decorations and design elements, signage, ...

Festival day: Saturday 22.07.2023 👏

On the day of the event, we need support until 2pm for:

• Decoration and design
• Set up entry gates
• "finishing touches"

In addition, we need support in the crews from 2pm (event start time) during the show:

• Guards / Helping hands for the entrance
• Awareness
• Clean-Team Bar
• new since 2023: Infopoint
• Photography, Social Media, Influencer:inside

And of course we will already dismantle parts on Saturday evening. We would also be happy about your support for this!

Dismantling day: Sunday 23.07.2023 💪

On dismantling Sunday we need help with the dismantling of all kinds of things from decoration to stage plates to tents but also with the clean-up, so collecting waste and bottles

The shifts are organized  in 3h-windows - you can also support different tasks with breaks or during multiple time slots per day - Please sign up below for the respective shift(s), we will get back to you with more details :)

What's needed

No skills are needed. Interest and fun in meeting new people and places will be helpful. 

What to bring

You will receive food and drinks from us. As accommodation we can offer camping on our meadow. A few tents are available. A blanket or a sleeping bag should be brought along.

Time required

Important notice

We will get back to you by mail in the time leading up to the Open Air and send you, among other things, information sheets with more detailed information, depending on the task you have chosen. You will also be invited to our happenings with the team before and after the event, as well as to a separate get-to-know-you date for all volunteers at our event, which will take place on July 14th, 2023. Drinks and food will be provided by us in each case. We look forward to seeing you there!

The Musikkombinat Magdeburg e.V. organizes concerts in Magdeburg, free of charge and accessible to all. We have been expanding the music offer in Magdeburg since 2013 on a voluntary basis - from financing, booking, technology, decoration, lighting, artists and team support, social media and logistics. Our team holds over 40 people and our biggest event - the GLACIS OPEN AIR Magdeburg - is now the largest open air event in the region.
