About the volunteering opportunity

ReDI in Cyberspace is an online academy that supports adult learners from migrant backgrounds. We bring humanity to virtual learning and provide our students with high-quality coding courses, teaching them valuable digital skills and building a strong network of tech leaders, students and alumni to create new opportunities for all.

Our goal is to develop ReDI in Cyberspace into a global digital education platform that enables the tech community to support refugees and displaced people in Europe.

Course Overview:

  • Digital Marketing and SEO
  • KI Basics
  • Salesforce Basics
  • Python Basics
  • UX/UI Design Basics
  • Azure AZ500 Certification Course

Course language is English!

Your Tasks

The main task of the ReDI teachers is to present teaching content and to support the students in class with exercises. We usually teach classes in pairs, with teaching teams being composed of 7-9 superheroes. Volunteers normally take over around one class each week and can assign themselves to different roles according to their own preferences (lead teacher, assistant teacher, homework reviewer).

We have a lot of resources (presentations, exercises etc), which can be shaped from you to develop the new curriculum. Onboarding always starts one month before the course kick-off. ReDI supports teachers throughout the semester with organizational structure, training and workshops. Learners groups consist of about 25 students.

Feel free to check our volunteer guide and to share your interest anytime through Vostel directly, or by filling in this interest form. You will then be invited for a meet & greet via calendly to ask your questions, before you decide to sign up!

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity you don't need any German skills.

The goal of our courses is to provide our students with professional working knowledge so they can find a career in Tech. Therefore, volunteers ideally have knowledge or work experience in the field they are teaching.

Project-based
On weekdays, at night

The course will run from March - June 2024, with a teacher onboarding phase in February 2024.

The classes will take place on weekday evenings (7pm-2pm CEST), on Mon + Wed or Tues + Thurs. The time commitment for the classes would be about 3 classes per month, 2 hours each.

++Please note we are based in Europe (CET, GMT+1) and therefore prioritise volunteers based in that same time zone for easier coordination purpose++

Where?

ReDI School of Digital Integration

ReDI School of Digital Integration is a non-profit digital school for newcomers in Berlin. The school offers its students free, high-quality training, the chance to join the startup and digital industry, and a physical platform to connect newcomers to locals.

To support the students in their studies, ReDI equips them with workstations in co-working spaces and access to technical mentors to work in project groups. Apart from technological skills, ReDI also provides know-how of digital entrepreneurs, and connects students early on with the local startup scene and potential employers through networking events.
