Enable friendships at Start with a Friend e.V.

You want to work for a society that excludes no one? You want to bring people in contact with each other and work for openness and tolerance? Do you enjoy meeting new people and exchanging ideas? Then you have come to the right place!

Your Tasks

Start with a Friend mediates friendships between people with and without an immigration background. It is especially important to us that we create encounters at eye level so that friendships can develop. What does that mean for your commitment?

You get to know many new people and welcome them to our organization

You think about which people would fit well together in a tandem

You support the tandems with their questions

Of course, you don't do all this alone. At each location there is a volunteer team that works together with a lot of joy, fun and SwaF spirit. We are always happy to welcome new faces. The topics around migration, diversity and anti-discrimination are very important to us. Therefore, in addition to the work in the team, we have many different seminars. You are welcome to participate. You don't need any previous knowledge.

Time required

In principle, the time can be divided flexibly. There is one team meeting per month, about 2 placement evenings and one matching event. If individual meetings are arranged, these can be organized flexibly.

This project is location independent.

Start with a Friend connects immigrants and locals in tandems based on interests and needs. Ideally, a friendship develops out of this, but in any case, a social network is created that makes it easier for immigrants to have a good start in Germany. Start with a Friend accompanies and advises the tandems after the matching and organises events to bring the tandems into contact with each other. It is also important to us to create structures in which people can get involved, even if they are tied up in their work and family life. The time schedule is therefore flexible; further training courses are offered but are optional. So far, Start with a Friend is available in 21 cities nationwide.
