About the volunteering opportunity
We work as a mobile psychosocial counseling team for refugees in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. Our focus is on supporting Ukrainian refugees and their integration in the district.
Your Tasks
We are looking for volunteers with Ukrainian and/or Russian language skills to accompany refugees to appointments as language mediators. Most of the time, these are doctor's appointments or everyday topics such as finding a place to live, going to school, opening a bank account, and so on.
What's needed
You should be comfortable speaking in German as well as Ukrainian or Russian, no special training as an interpreter is necessary.
Time required
Time commitment is as needed. We receive between 3-5 requests per week for accompaniment/language mediation at appointments. These appointments are then divided between the volunteers.
Important notice
Please note that the accompaniment takes place during the day. The time required is usually no more than 1h, plus travel time if necessary, although most appointments are in Kreuzberg.
