About the volunteering opportunity

Many people suffer from trauma due to their flight and migration background. A large part of them do not receive professional therapeutic help. Trauma first aid offers a low-threshold and multipliable tool for primary intervention after severe traumatization. It does not represent a therapy, but an effective and easily understandable first measure. The concept is based on education about the effects of traumatization together with simple physical exercises. The goal is to reduce individual discomfort and improve psychological resilience. Trauma first aid also sees itself as a contribution to combating violence and the causes of flight.

Your Tasks

Trauma helpers assist traumatized people, if possible in their native language. After qualifying as a (native-speaking) trauma helper, consisting of two full days of training, they can take on assignments. After the first round of training,  trauma helpers can be requested through ArrivalAid. As their experience grows, trauma helpers are given the opportunity to qualify as multipliers so that they themselves can teach the concept to new trauma helpers.
