About the volunteering opportunity

Helping where help is needed and being by the side of those who need support. For 75 years, this has been what defines us and how we work. It was just as true 75 years ago as it is today: we are committed to helping people who have had to flee their homes.

The hostel for homeless people in Berlin-Marzahn offers about 160 places for people in social need, especially for families and vulnerable women who have been victims of domestic violence, as well as for people with limited mobility.

Your Tasks

You can support us by accompanying children aged 2-12 years in our playroom together with full-time carers / another committed person. When the weather is good, the activities with the children take place at the playground (meeting point remains the dormitory).

Dates and times can be arranged flexibly in the long term in consultation with the childcare.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
  • To join us, you must be at least 20 years old.
  • B2 German language skills are desirable.
  • Some previous (educational) experience in working with children is helpful, but not essential.
  • Enjoyment and patience when working with children
  • Empathy and openness for the life situation of the families in the facility
  • Creativity
  • Ideally, you can commit yourself on a regular basis so that the relationship with the children can be built up.
