Get involved with our group offers for children with disabilities in Treptow-Köpenick

As a family relief service of the Einhorn gGmbH, we offer children and adolescents with a disability varied leisure activities. To support our group activities in Treptow-Köpenick, we are always looking for dedicated children's companions.

Once a month on a Saturday we offer great group activities for children with disabilities from Treptow-Köpenick. We go on excursions together, e.g. to the zoo or swimming, or we stay at our premises in Oberschöneweide. There we cook and do handicrafts together. The groups take place during the day and start between 10 am and 12 pm in the premises of Einhorn. As a rule, a group lasts 6 hours. Usually 3-6 children take part in a group. In each group there is a group leader who plans the group well in advance in coordination and is responsible for a smooth flow.

Your Tasks

As a volunteer children's companion, you will support our groups. For example, children with Down syndrome, autism, ADHD, mental retardation and/or physical disabilities participate in the groups. Please note that each child is individual regardless of their disability and that their diagnosis is only part of their colorful personality. The ages of the children range from approximately 7 to 18 years old.

You will work with the group leader and other child care providers to shape the group. You will be a permanent contact person for one or two children who are in the group. Before the group you will always be informed about the schedule and which children you will accompany.

We offer you the opportunity to gain enriching experience. You will also receive free and competent training. In line with our child protection concept, this also includes that you apply for an extended certificate of good conduct with our support and present it to us. We are happy to offer you an hourly allowance, free training, reliable support for your voluntary work and much more.

What's needed

You don't necessarily need experience working with children or people with disabilities. We welcome an open attitude, empathy and patience.

Costs, such as entrance fees, will be covered.

Time required

We are a families relief service offering leisure activities to kids and youth with disabilities. We provide group activities (swimming, excursions, sport, cooking), individual support as well as vacation trips to children. All that is organized by volunteering child care workers and a a supporting coordinator team.
