About the volunteering opportunity

The 12 senior horses in our association have to be looked after every day. The grounds of the purely volunteer-run farm also need to be maintained and minor repairs carried out. Would you like to help?

Your Tasks

Support with the care of our senior horses

  • Feeding inthe morning , preparing feed, distributing hay and taking 3 horses to the paddocks
  • Feedat lunchtime , prepare feed, distribute hay, let horses out to pasture
  • Feed inthe evening , prepare feed, distribute hay and bring 3 horses into the stable
  • Mucking stalls, bedding stalls, mucking out paddocks,
The horse care is not neglected and is taken over by all of us, if you like you are welcome to help. Daily grooming and hoof care are a matter of course.

If there is enough time (in the morning/evening), several volunteers also take short walks together with the horses in the neighboring forest and/or train with the horses on our agility trail.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
As the care of the 12 horses (the entire farm operation) is organized exclusively on a voluntary basis, reliability is an important prerequisite. Everyone is dependent on the help of others. And the horses need us all!

In order to have more time for the horses, we urgently need further support. We also welcome occasional help - e.g. with mucking out and mucking in.

Get in touch if you would like to spend your free time in a meaningful way, in wonderful nature and with lovely ponies or perhaps organize a social day at the farm with your colleagues!

We will arrange an appointment at the farm to get to know each other. We can then clarify any further questions on site. We look forward to meeting you!

Time required

Once
The horses need feed at mornings, lunchtimes and evenings - every day, of course. Some even five times a day. As we look after older animals (currently between 21 and 37 years old), which are fed soaked hay cobs, senior feed and mash in addition to hay and grass (or exclusively), reliable help is important here.

We mainly need help in the mornings. But we are also happy to have more helping hands in the afternoons and evenings. In the morning we start with the morning feeding between 8.00 am and 9.00 am. Otherwise, the schedule is flexible.

You decide whether you would like to help once a week or on several days.

You have no experience with horses? No problem. We organize regular free workshops for all volunteers, where "newbies" and "old hands" learn together (including age-appropriate exercise and activities for the four-legged oldies).

Association for the sustainable care of former riding school horses

We enable former therapy and riding school horses that can no longer "earn" their own living due to their age to enjoy their well-earned retirement in their familiar herd and environment - purely on a voluntary basis and financed by sponsorships and donations.

For many years, the animals have made many people happy and they can and will continue to do so in their old age. In social projects, we enable disadvantaged groups of people - also on a purely voluntary basis - to enjoy a relaxing break with the animals.
