Accompany people with a refugee background as a mentor (language support, homework help, leisure activities, etc.)

In the mentoring project of our vounteering office MARIE, people from Berlin who would like to support other people find each other in 1:1 accompaniment. We are looking for people who would like to accompany refugees or other people with support needs and make it easier for them to arrive in a new environment. Especially the personal contact at eye level helps to get to know each other better and to learn from each other. Prejudices can thus be reduced and replaced by shared experiences.

We offer you: full-time contact persons, regular information, invitations to joint activities and events, proof of commitment, if necessary (BVG) travel reimbursement.

Each mentoring is different, depending on the wishes and needs of the participants.

As a mentor, you can plan the meetings individually with your mentee; you should plan about 2 hours per week.

Get-to-know meetings usually take place in our office in Südneukölln. However, the project runs throughout Berlin; we try to bring mentors and mentees together close to where they live in order to avoid long journeys for the participants.
