About the volunteering opportunity
With our Yadan Biad (=Hand in Hand in Arabic) project, we at the German Red Cross KV Schöneberg-Wilmersdorf e.V. want to get people from the neighborhood to accompany young refugees on their various paths into our society.
We want to shape integration together and help young refugees who are alone in Germany to reach their destination more quickly, stay motivated and not feel alone.
Your Tasks
We are currently looking for a person who would like to teach German (beginner level A1) to a small group of young refugees between the ages of 14 and 17. You would support the group with another volunteer.
You will be in regular contact with the project management and the social workers on site.
What's needed
We are looking for volunteers who would like to accompany unaccompanied young refugees with heart and commitment. Whether you are young or young at heart, if you are motivated and want to make a positive impact on the lives of unaccompanied refugee minors, you have come to the right place.
You don't need any previous teaching experience. As the young people all speak very little German, it's all about teaching them the basics and making them feel comfortable/having a good time together.We are looking for this:
- Long-term commitment for at least 6 months, but ideally longer
- Openness, curiosity and respectful interaction at eye level
- Commitment, personal responsibility and reliability
- Independent work, possibly together with other volunteers in a team
Time required
every Wednesday: 9:30 to 11:00 a.m
(of course except illness / vacation, emergencies, etc.)

Our aim is to shape integration together and, by accompanying refugees, to help them reach their goals more quickly, to stay motivated and not to feel alone.
We bring people together who fit together as well as possible and share common interests or goals. We work closely with two shelters in Schöneberg for refugee women and their children and provide close and professional support for both refugees and volunteers.
We are currently looking for women who would like to support young refugee women on their way to a new life. From park mornings with children, excursions, support with formalities to cooking together, everything can be included. We are looking forward to meeting you!
